Cosmic Dome
Our star gazers had a fantastic time in the Cosmic Dome today, learning about night and day and the planets and stars in the night sky. Thank you to our Parent Council for helping towards the cost of this #successfullearners#knowledge
Macduff Calendar
We are very proud of Katie for being a close runner up in The Friends of Macduff Aquarium Macduff Calendar competition. Keith Newton visited us to present Katie with her prize. All the children’s drawings are included in the calendar #community
AFCCT
Delighted to welcome our new AFCCT coach Gemma yesterday, accompanied by Claire who we met at Cormack Park. Gemma will work with us for the remainder of the year to help develop lifelong skills such as cooperation, teamwork, problem solving, resilience and communication through games, activities and physical activity Aberdeen Football Club
Space Week
Space Week activities saw us remote into a talk on space junk and use augmented reality to explore the planets (the faces says it all!) #knowledge#digitallearning
Outdoor Education
Outdoor Education this week saw us making egg carriers using natural materials to carry an egg round an obstacle course. We then guided our blindfolded partner round the obstacle course! #ProblemSolving#communication
Science Week
Our Parent Council kindly helped to fund workshops from Aberdeen Science Centre. P4-7 were space engineers and had to build a capsule for an astronaut (egg) to land safely on earth, they used junk materials to build it and had to think about how the egg wouldn’t smash when it got dropped from a height! P1-3 learned about forces and magnetism. The Cosmic Dome had a technical hitch but it’s coming back a other day
ALEC Visit
Amy and Harold the Giraffe visited today from Aberdeenshire Life Education to deliver two fun, interactive workshops in the tent. We learned about how to keep our amazing bodies healthy and how to be a good friend

Symmetry
Outdoor Education – Symmetrical nature pictures. We demonstrated our mathematical, creativity and perseverance skills (it was windy!)
P7 Leaver’s Hoodie
Yes there were tears our amazing, fantastic, adorable, incredible P7s were delighted to receive their Leaver’s hoodie and want to say a big thank you to our Parent Council for the gift.
Rising Stars 2021
Craig Rollo from Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust presented us today with the ‘Rising Stars 2021’ title and strip for top engaging Aberdeenshire school in online learning during Lockdown! Individual winners Aaliyah for completing all the challenges, going back to do better! James and Jessica for working together and completing all the challenges. Finally, Seth, winner of the ‘Young Achiever Award’ for Term 3 for not only completing all the challenges but for being such a trooper in Lockdown, regularly in school on his own, always with a big smile on his face. Easter Hunt
Today’s Outside Education Easter Hunt. Find the clues, do the challenges, collect the letters to make a word. We made thorn crowns, crosses, put stones in order of size, decorated Easter eggs to name but a few! We had a big ‘CELEBRATION’ when we got our prize, kindly donated by our Parent Council
Day of Reflection
To mark the ‘Day of Reflection’ we planted seeds and we hope they grow to be a rainbow of colours.
Health and Wellbeing
To launch our new Health and Wellbeing initiative in partnership with Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust we were visited by our coach Brent and a very special guest…. 🐑 looking forward to working closely to develop leadership, respect and team work which sits perfectly with our school values 👌 Aberdeenshire Council Aberdeen Football Club
STEM
Colette Flynn and Mark from Siemens and Mrs Whittingham visited this morning to launch the STEM Rollercoaster Challenge. We are all very excited to embark on this creative project that will see us use our problem solving, enterprising, numeracy and literacy skills.
